About Elsa Hammond
Elsa Hammond was born to missionary parents and raised in South Africa. She came to the United States at 16 and became a citizen five years later. After becoming a registered nurse, she attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where she majored in Biology and minored in Art. She later received her Master’s Degree in the Worship Arts through Shalom Bible College in Des Moines, Iowa.
Elsa has always been fascinated with art. For twenty years, she has fanned this interest by designing Banners for the King of Glory. Her wide variety of banners and instruments of worship have been displayed at churches and conferences throughout the US. She has traveled to foreign countries, teaching on the importance of banners in worship and displaying the pageantry of the Lord. Elsa’s banners have traveled across America, as well as to Argentina, Spain, England, Chile, Mexico, South Africa, Germany, Costa Rica and Jerusalem.
Elsa has a burning desire to see the arts expanded and utilized in worship in the Church. Referring to worship, she states, ”I feel like the visuals are to the eyes, what music is to the ears.” She has keen discernment and sensitivity to the movement of the banners and how the Holy Spirit can use them.
She would like to see God continue to network people who have the same vision of “ushering in the Presence of God” using the arts.
In the Fall of 2004, The Lord gave Elsa Hammond a series of eight banners that can be used together or separately. Elsa’s 5' by 8' silk panel paintings are of the majestic heaven and all its Glory. Each banner was airbrushed and then meticulously detailed with a brush and then highlighted with glitter. The blue ribbon representing the Holy Spirit, moves throughout each of the 8 panels. It is a 45' story that not only brings you into the presence of God, but gives you a vision of what lies ahead for those who look forward to Heaven. If you are interested in having these banners displayed at your church or event, please contact her.
